Years ago I would have been ashamed to admit what my favourite colour was.
Now I can proclaim with no regret or embarrassment.??
Pink is my favourite colour!??
I don???t care if you think it???s too ???girly??? of colour or a lame choice, your opinion doesn???t matter.
Everyone is entitled to have a favourite colour and that colour can be anything they want it to be. So don???t you dare take away that simple joy in someone???s life with your dumb opinion!??
In most situations, I would apologize for my behaviour because I firmly believe you can always talk disagreements out, but surprisingly favourite colours are something that ignites the debater qualities I didn???t even know I had.
Here???s the backstory to it all! Pink was always my favourite colour ever since I was little. I was always drawn to it. Maybe society???s predispositions pushed me towards it, I have no clue. But whenever I bought anything, if it came in pink I was going to get it in pink. But as society willed it, it also got me to reconsider my choice of colour. Everyone around me growing up was constantly stating that pink was too ???girlish??? (like if it was a bad thing), a childish colour, and basic. Anytime pink was mentioned in a conversation there was always a comment along the lines of, ???Pink? Really???? So naturally, as a budding elementary student with the urge to seem more grown-up and liked by the masses, I changed my favourite colour to green or purple. Though I still find them to be beautiful colours, to me they were more acceptable responses to the question, what is your favourite colour???
For the longest time, I started to believe that they were my favourite colours, and life was all dandy. But as I got older, I started to care less about the opinions of others and I could no longer deny what my heart truly wanted to say. So now I can proudly announce???
Pink is my favourite colour!??
From clothes, accessories, stationery, prints, paints, pens, and random trinkets, if it comes in pink I???ll gladly take it! Ultimately, there???s no wrong answer to what your favourite colour is. If it makes you happy why not love it whole-heartedly? Even if there is someone that disagrees, all I have to say is that I guess they didn???t finish growing up yet.??
For this illustration I could have just done a black and white image, but where???s the fun in that? The more I looked into monochrome I found out there was a legit term for when someone wore everything in the same colour, given different articles of clothing were in different shades of the same colour. And I???m not just talking about all black, people would wear all white, neon green, head to toe in yellow, and you know it, all in complete pink. After that, creating this illustration was a natural progression. Though I love pink, wearing an entire outfit in pink is still too bold for, but I got to admit, that outfit is pretty cute though!??
That???s all I have to say for now! Until next time!??
