A Full Year of Day-Ri Tales

I’ve done it. I’ve finally done it. Without skipping a single week, 52 comics were created within 2020. At the start of the year, I was apprehensive because with most of my projects there is always a setback that causes inconsistencies that delay the project from its original deadline. However, without fail, a comic was posted every week and I couldn’t be more proud of the dedication and consistency that was put into this series. Not to mention, if you compare my linework with previous comics you can tell how much more clean and confident the lines are. I am so happy that I have been able to achieve that within the year.

That being said, after I completed this year’s remaining comics and backlogged them, I couldn’t help but think, should I keep going? I mean, I achieved my goal and thinking strategically this series neither increased nor decreased my audience nor drove more traffic to my work. Business-wise, it doesn’t make sense to continue with this series. Then again, looking back when I first started Day-Ri Tales, building an audience was never the goal. I just want to create something fun and light-hearted and personal to me, and if others enjoyed it, that was just an added bonus. So it feels shallow to quit based on business, especially since Day-Ri Tales wasn’t born with that intention. This series is precious to me, and I would like to see how much further I can push it.

With that in mind, I have plans in the making. I don’t want to reveal just yet what those plans are, mainly because I don’t want to get ahead of myself to only disappoint myself, but they will be fun and colourful changes.

For the most part, that is everything I wanted to say, and to those who have enjoyed Day-Ri Tales along with me, thank you so much for the support, and it makes me happy to hear the good it brings to other’s lives.

Until next time!
