Floral Patterns

A couple of months back I got this book called Color + Pattern by Khristian A. Howell. It???s basically a book with a whole bunch of exercises for pattern design. I briefly looked through the exercises and they all seem to be easy enough to do, and I thought to myself, ???Hey! Why not!???

The first practical exercise was to buy a bouquet of flowers and then create two different motifs out of them. It was a quite fun exercise and I got some pretty interesting sketches out of it. The images above were the patterns I came up with in the end with different colour palettes applied to it.

Personally, I liked the last four the most because they have an upbeat and fun vibe to them, I can definitely see them be applied to a whole sort of materials. I do enjoy the first two though; they have a cute yet subtle appeal to them, but as for personal taste, the last four does it for me!

So that???s it for now, I???ll continue to post the results I end up getting from these exercises, and as for the ???weekly??? illustrations, they???re getting done, but surprise surprise, I???m a little behind.?? However, I trust myself to get all of them done within the year!

Until next time!
