This post is poorly timed because I completely forgot that I was going to do a post for this.

So, I did Inktober for the first time ever, and holy cow was it an endeavour. The planning and the act of constantly trying to stay on top of everything were insane! I remember sitting at a cafe trying to make heads or tails of these prompts trying to see what would make sense yet also unique.

I also clearly remember the headache that followed after that brainstorm session.

Though despite the mental fatigue it was a fun time, and I got some pretty good pieces out of it.

Even though they were just quick prompts, Inktober pushed me mentally in terms of thinking and working fast, and drawing concepts I wouldn’t normally draw. Such as the dragon prompt, I dreaded doing that one for days, but once I sat down and did it, the piece ended up looking quite decent!

Recently in my personal development, I realized that I struggle with wanting everything to be perfect, despite the many times I tried to deny that I’m a perfectionist. With the time restraint that goes hand-in-hand with Inktober, it forced me to get it done, despite the results. By judging all the pieces created for Inktober, it’s as clear as day that the pieces that only had a brief concept idea to go off of appear to be a lot more successful compared to the ones I planned out every detail. That being said, I had plenty of “concept” ones that turned out mediocre. But I guess, judging from this whole experience I should learn to trust my gut more, because, hey! I guess I better illustrator than I give myself credit for!

Well, that’s all for now!

Until next time!
